Flickring for Fun

Flickr Reflection:
Setting up a Flickr account was very easy. I downloaded several pictures that have been taken in the last year by my family, places I remember with fondness. I am a member of Facebook, and have shared some photos and videos through that network, but I found this a lot easier to use. ( I have tried to put the link in this post so that those of you who are reading this blog can check it out my photos and also set up your own account). You will have to have a Yahoo account to begin.
I will be trying to use Flickr Maps with a 4th grade project that is still in the works - but am also excited about using the Trading Card feature in collaboration with an adventurous teacher. What if a trading card was created for each of the Children Choice books, and students could create a trading card as they completed a book. Maybe a special award would be given for a complete set of cards. Then the student would not only have the satisfaction of reading the books, but also have a unique set of cards he/she had created.  This could also be used in the art classroom. Cards could be created in the style of an artist that the student had studied.
There are so many Flickr applications that sound  useful and fun , it makes my head spin. If teachers get on this site, I think they will be delighted with the possibilities.
